Port Townsend Public Library | Before and After
The Port Townsend Public Library recently moved back into their historic Carnegie Library after the completion of a substantial construction project. The renovations included work on both the interior and exterior of the building to better serve Port Townsend’s many library patrons and restore aspects of the building that had been lost since it opened its doors in 1913. The renovations also included the creation of two new meeting spaces for library programs and community events in the historic Charles Pink House next door. The library reopened in late 2014, and both the staff and visitors are enjoying the new spaces. The images highlight some of the changes, including restoring the Carnegie Reading Room, reconfiguring the children’s collections and repairing the exterior and historic entry canopy.
